Indiana Township Association By-Laws

The governing framework of the Indiana Township Association, Inc.

Foundation

Preamble

The establishment of this Association is an expression of the desires and aspirations of the Township Trustees within the State of Indiana to organize and participate fully in activities, which strive to promote a township government responsive to the needs of its citizens.

This association seeks to meet its obligations and aspirations through the democratic process within the framework of our constitutional government and consistent with Indiana’s institutions and traditions.

We pledge ourselves to a more effective and efficient form of township government securing for those township officers and office holders full recognition and enjoyment of their rights to administer their responsibilities in a just and professional manner; to assure they are adequately compensated for the responsibility they hold; to secure the tools necessary for them to fulfill their obligations as public servants; and to strengthen and extend our form of township government in such a way as to provide to the citizens services to which they are entitled.

We shall, as an association, combat resolutely the forces that seek to undermine the democratic institutions of our Nation and State. And, we further pledge to uphold and maintain the Constitution and the laws of the United States, the State of Indiana, and all political sub-divisions and to advance our interest and work for the betterment of all taxpayers and citizens of the townships of the State of Indiana.

With divine guidance, grateful for the traditions of township government within this fine State, confident of meeting the challenge of the future, we proclaim these By-laws.
