Dear ITA Members,

For more than two decades, the Indiana Township Association has benefited from the dedicated leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment of Executive Director Debbie Driskell. Through periods of growth, legislative change, and evolving challenges facing township government, Debbie has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Association and serve Indiana’s township officials with professionalism and heart.

Today, we are sharing an important update regarding the future leadership of the ITA.

As part of a carefully planned leadership transition process developed over the past several years, Debbie Driskell is transitioning out of the day-to-day leadership role of the Association while continuing to serve during the transition period. This approach allows the ITA to move forward thoughtfully while preserving the experience, relationships, and institutional knowledge Debbie has built throughout her remarkable tenure.

At the direction of the ITA Board of Directors, John Wales has been appointed as Interim Director and has begun assuming leadership responsibilities as the Association enters this next chapter.

John brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in adult education, communications, training development, and organizational operations. Many members may already know John through his previous work supporting the ITA and through his involvement in township government initiatives across Indiana. His passion for member service, education, and the future of township government positions the Association well for continued growth and innovation in the years ahead.
